Held court at the Edinburgh Castle last night with Barb and Darren: Maker's Mark, Knob Creek and cider for them, Belhaven and Anchor Steam for me. '80s Karaoke Night planned soon, so we can hear Darren's singing voice (George Michael and Tony Hadley, he says).
No good segue here, but here are links to two of the greatest videos ever:
Har Mar Superstar's "DUI", and Carl Lewis's -- yes, that Carl Lewis -- video for Break It Up.

Posted by: barb on October 15, 2004 06:51 PMBe thankful for 80's karaoke. In my town (in north Alabama) we have only country karaoke, and only "new country" at that.
Posted by: david on October 18, 2004 04:29 PMI don't even know if there really is such a thing as '80s karaoke -- Barb?
I've also discovered yet another singer who's more or less in my same register (and this is a little scary): Howard Jones. Found out about this while singing along to (and this is even scarier) "No One Is To Blame." (I can't do the "Woh oh woh oh ohs" from "Things Can Only Get Better," though.)
80s karaoke? i am sure there is. and if so, i will find it...
and the wo-wo-wo's of 'things can only get better' is the bestest part!
Posted by: barb on October 19, 2004 09:42 AMYeah Barb, look into it... We have to get a crowd together singing "Woh woh woh oh oh" in unison.
